Disabling UltraDMA

I turned on Ultra DMA for my disk controllers and I can't figure out how to turn them off. My computer hanged after that and I had to use MSCONFIG to click on Compatiblity Mode to even get it past Safe Mode.
I came to this conclusion but the problem was earlier discussed here

I device manager , right click on My Computer and then click on properties and the device manager tab .The highlight the drive you wish to remove the DMA settimg from and click in properties ,then the settings tab .Once there you can remove the check mark from the DMA setting ! Hope this is what you where looking for ? Good Luck Nick

See, thats what I thought too but it happens that I can't do that because the HDDs aren't showing up. I can fully use my hard drives because, well, they boot up and I can save and clearly use windows. BUT, they don't exist in Device Manager.
I think I will just re install WinME if problems still exist or upgrade to 2000.
