I just downloaded an old Sierra AGI game, but I want to disable the sound on my computer, because the music drives me crazy! I tried disabling the sound card (Creative Audio PCI) through device manager and I tried muting the volume controls, but I still had sound...can someone tell me how to temporarily disable it?
LOL Jim - sometimes the best answers are the most obvious...

the reason that you could not stop the sound in windows was because the game is dos based and runs independent of windows. and jim s ideas about the best one for this.
Um, yeah, great idea, but the only problem is that the sound in this game has nothing to do with the extraneous speakers. The music (ie. beeps)comes from the internal speaker.
Disable the pc speaker in BIOS on bootup if this is an available option to you, it's quite common. At least you can re-enable it easily enough when you want to boot to Windows again.
