Direct X 9.0 Compatible Adapters

Specs: Windows ME, 800 MB 256 RAM

My kids have been playing Sims 2 on their computer no problem. Then yesterday when they went to play it came up with the 'failed to find any DirectX9.0c compatible adaptors in this system' line. We have had a ATI Radeon video card installed, I have done all the DirectX tests and all ok. What gets me is that it has been playing fine then all of a sudden won't play.

This is a common problem with Sims 2 and I dont know the solution.

You really should go to their website to look for others who may have found the answer to fix it.

Here is a link to the patch that addresses some Radeon Issues.

They suggest you use the 4.10 drivers.

I just read the above posts and I'm a little (okay a lot!) upset. I have been waiting forever for the stupid Sims 2 game to come out. I just received a new computer from my grandparents with enough space in the hard drive and all the latest updates. Now I'm finding out that I need all this DirectX 9.0 crap. I already downloaded it from Microsoft.com! What's up? Can someone give me some advice? If this problem is so common, I wonder why the EA Games cooperation has not notified the customers. All I know is that I'm pretty dang upset.
