I have a strange situation. Under Device Manager-Sound,Video,Game Controllers: I have "Microsoft Sidewinder Precision2" listed twice! There are no exclamation or question marks, no conflicts under properties, and the joystick works fine! When I try to remove one of the duplicate drivers it somehow re-intalls itself. How can I get rid of one of them? I am running WinMe, AMD Cpu 1,3 megs and 256 Megs of Ram.

I used to have an external modem on a P60 running windows 95 that absolutely insisted on being in device manager twice. If I removed one instance, the modem wouldn't work. If I removed both instances and attempted to reinstall the modem drivers... it would reinsert both entries.

If all is working well... don't worry about it.

I'm not an expert, so maybe you should wait until someone else posts, but if I have duplicates in device manager, I remove both of them and then let windows reinstall one when it restarts. If you have 2 and you only remove 1, it will still add one back. There are a couple of categories you shouldn't mess with, like the hard disk controllers, is one I think, but I don't know about the one you're talking about removing. I don't think it would hurt to remove the duplicates. I always remove ghost drivers in safe mode, as well. Hope this helps.
