Comment:

Following a system upgrade (new motherboard, AMD 900, GeForce 2, SB Live 5.1 Player, etc.), my machine attempts to connect to the Internet every time I go into Device Manager!
Zone Alarm says it is sucatreg.exe trying to connect, but I have checked for viruses and it is clean. What is happening here ? Thanks for your help.

I seriously doubt this is a virus
because in many of these cases the installation was fresh.
No downloads except microsoft updates

Thanks, TheGorx, very much for the advice - the solution from users.qwest.net (switching off "check for publishers certificate revocation") appears to have removed the symptoms. There are several unsigned drivers on my system (Creative sound, 3D Prophet graphics, Supra Modem, Iomega Zip drive, D-Link digital camera, etc.). Should I worry about this or leave well alone while everything is working!

I wouldn't say not to worry about it
but I don't see any problem with having that way.
especially when microsoft doesn't offer a solution.

the best thing is not to have your system dial out by itself.
