I can not get any wall paper to work. When I go to display properties and go to background it wont let me choose anything but desktop. then i tried from the control panel and chose a desk top theme, everything from the theme will work except the background. I can change the color but that's it. I was given this PC and the person who gave it to me said they believed they turned something off related to the background but cant remember what. Please help its driving me crazy trying to figure it out. thanks in advanced. autumn

Try turning on Active Desktop in the Desktop Properties. Without Active Desktop enabled you are only allowed to use .BMP (Bitmap pictures) and the standard None with a choice of color for your background. Who gave you people access to a computer?

my active desk top is on. I cant even use the built in back grounds . .BMP pictures wont even show as my background. any other suggestions is appreciated. thanks again.

turn active desktop off

Please try this 1. right click on an empty space on your desktop (not the taskbar) 2. point to ACTIVE DESKTOP 3. click on CUSTOMIZE MY DESKTOP try choosing a background and please let me know what happens

sorry its taken so long to respond, when I right click on desk top I get arrange, refresh and properties . no customize desk top. I ended up putting in windows XP instead and everything works great now . thank you though for the responce and again sorry it took so long to get back to you.
