HI..i am running ME on a HP Laptop and have had no trouble. This morning I turned it on, and it went to my desktop except there is nothing by my wall paper there. NO start, no taskbar, no icons. I tried to right click, but it wouldnt let me. Its just my wallpaper and mouse. I did not download anything within the prior day..
try booting into safemode press ctrl while booting or f8 when it says starting windows choose safemode then use system restore to take it back to a point in time when it was working start-programs-accessories-system tools-system restore.

if you can't do a system restore try scandisk and maybe defragment then a scanreg /restore and restore a registry from before this started. a corrupt registry or a program loading at start up could be causing this.
if you can get to safe-mode scandisk in Dos and run scanreg /restore from Dos.

hello are you running off ac or batery? there is a way to go to your o/s by useing the fllopy disk .ive not done it perhapps some one could explain this for her please? did your kidds or dog or some one drop the lap top recently?
