20 plus of my desktop icons have been corrupted with another picture appearing in front of the correct one. The outline of the correct picture can often be seen behind the incorrect one. The incorrect one is allways the same, it is of a calculater, pencil and papers, which I believe is the Microsoft Works icon. Can anyone tell me how to get rid of these wrong icons. The wording below the icons is thankfully correct, so I can still use the desktop.

Download TweakUI from Microsoft - It has a Repair Tab that allows you to rebuild the Icons.
Short of that, you can delete the ShellIconCache file in the Windows directory and reboot. The file is a Hidden file - so, be sure to enable View All files. As I recall, in Win/ME you could do this from the Windows Explorer (however in prior versions you had to exit to DOS in order to delete it.)
Another thing to check is the IconSpacing values in your display properties. Make sure you don't have an overlay issue.

Here is a place to get a fix for your icon cache size: http://www2.whidbey.net/djdenham/Tweekz.htm
If you have "cacheman" it will also adjust your icon cache along with other caches+.
