Desktop icons are gone

How can I restore missing Icons on my Desktop? I lost all of my Win Me Desktop Icons. When I move some of the missing ones to the desktop, it says that they are already there and all the shortcuts go to Windows explorer->Desktop.

Have you tried right-clicking on your desktop,and checking "show desktop icons" under "arrange icons"?
