I just ran delindex with the MORE option. Much easier than i imagined...Thanks. quick questions: Is it bad that all of my downloaded program files are gone such as shockwave and all of that? When will I find that out--which kind of applications?
Also, I looked at my temporary internet folder and it still says I have 8 files and 5 folders taking up 320 K...compared to the "empty" folder previously taking up 3 meg before I ran this. Did it clean all index.dat history? Does it remain in the registry soemwhere as well that delindex does not reach?
This is very new to me but I am learning. I ahve appreciated the regulars' patience and guidance.
Cheers

Also, I like to keep copies of all my downloads, in case I have to reformat. Load them on CD when there is enough

(a) Why didn't you post this on the original thread?
(b) Since the entire folder is deleted, there are no folders or files left. Windows rercreates what it wants at startup, so there will be a desktop.ini and a content.IE5 folder (with a desktop.ini, and an index.dat file in it.)
Of course, if you look at it WHILE you're on the Internet, you'll see a whole lot more.
The next time after you run Delindex with the More option, go look for the folder. What more can History Kill do with a folder and its contents that no longer exist?

I am still learning this sites etiquette and there are so many delindex threads that i am not so sure i would have found rthe correct one. Probably the March 17 thread. One issue The temp internet files folder is not deleted with the "more" option....as far as I remember so it was not recreated, hence , was wondering why the number of folder and files after delindex

The only point about the original thread is that it is in "My Computing.net" and I can see if any new posts were added since I last looked at it. Anyone is able to answer any thread, but if somehow I missed your new post/thread I wouldn't know you had a question. The only point was just to help you more easily. No harm done.
You had me scared for a minute there; I thought I might have left out the line that deletes the Temporary Internet files. But it IS there. Since it has an S(ystem) attribute, it may not delete if you run DELINEX with Explorer running (that is, if you do not use the Startup Disk) which you should do. This is the line under the MORE option: deltree /y c:\windows\tempor~1. It deletes the folder on my system.
Comments from anyone else that either has the same problem, or can explain this one?

I ran it in DOS....
So it did recreate a temp IE file folder...just did not realize it. Duh...I had to go to the inetrnet to post to computing.net so it probably created it at that moment....???
