jimi, if someone don't know how to make or use a bootdisk how confused do you think they
will be by the ultimate boot disk? they must crawl before they run(or something like that). i even find that bootdisk a bit iffy myself and i'm no novice. see ya.

I didnt think they were confused, I just figured they needed somthing a bit easier than a standard Windows Boot disk.I dont even think you can defrag from one can you? What do you find "iffy" about UBD?Its the most user friendly thing going as far as bootdisks go IMHO.Dont get me wrong I'm not arguing I'm just curious what you didnt understand or found harder than on a std bootdisk.

i must admit i have'nt used it a lot, but the damn thing has a confusing menu. i have'nt used it for a while so i can't remember what exactly i found annoying but i do remember it pissed me off enough so i went
back to the ME bootdisk. each to his own.
catch you later.

I downloaded UBD and I think it's pretty cool. What I really needed was a bootdisk that can defrag but UBD didn't have that option. All in all, I think it's better than the standard boot disk because of all the extra options and info.

Defrag is a Windows program. It can't be run from a bootdisk. Use Powerdefrag ( free from powerdefrag.com ) . It shuts everything down during defrag, including the desktop and all icons, then reboots back to normal Windows when defrag is done.

Use the ME Boot disk, select "Quick" from the menu. This will take you to the A:\ prompt. Now type C:\ (press Enter) and this will take you to the c: drive. Now type cd windows\command (press Enter) and this will take you to that folder. Now type defrag c: (press Enter).
Like everyone else Ihave not used the boot disk for a while but I am sure this syntax is right. If you run into a problem e-mail me

Curiosity got the better of me... I just had to make sure. It would seem I have erred. You can do a scandisk from the C:\ prompt but not a defrag. My apologies.
