I've recently downloaded the latest CWS Shredder v1.53.4, and run it on my pc. It picks up a potentially suspicious file "sdaemon.exe" which it says may be a "random" file generated by CWS variant CWS.Control. The program asked me whether to proceed and delete the file, which i'm not sure whether to do so (eventually i didn't). Could somebody please advise me on this matter? Appreciate the help.

regards,

grinpaper, sounds like you might get a later version and eliminate the problem. Another thing worth trying is to simply rename the file so your computer can't find it and start again. If all seems well - delete, if it turns out you need the file - reverse the rename and exclude it from future scans so it won't be reported again.

I believe it is part of "PC Security 5.1" Here is something I found on it on the internet.

ED & Wesley, thanks.

I do have PC Security installed on my system. But I didn't know that file is part of the program. I've tried to "rename" the file, but it didn't let me coz its being used by Windows. Also, I've installed another new version ie v1.56, but the same mssg came out. Question: How do I "exclude" a file from being detected by CWS Shredder? Appreciate the help.

Maybe spybot S&D has something to do with sdaemon.exe? I just rebooted windows and there was an error saying this file could not be found at startup. I've never seen it before either and spybot is the only thing I have installed that starts with an S that might be running a daemon, but... Sounds fishy to me. ;)
