Cursor and open programs freezing

While im doing somthing, (using aol for example) my cursor will freeze on the screen. But as i move the mouse i can see things where the cursor should be, highlight. But my open programs wont respond. I have to CTRL ALT DEL out of them, and then i have to hit the windows key to get the start menu up, and hit Shut Down, restart. After that the cursor is back to normal, but then after a little while it happens again. If anyone knows how i can fix this please e mail me, if you need more info on the comp, just e mail me asking.
