go to device manager, remove the sound drivers completely. restart the computter, windows should load the drivers properly then.

In the Control Panel,System Properties sheet,go to Sound,Video and Game Controllers.Highlight the line with the exclamation mark and click Properties at the bottom after reading the type of conflict.Go to the last tab called Resources and remove the check mark called Use Automatic settings. From there choose the alternative settings one at a time and see if this resolves the issue. The problem is probably one of DMA or IRQ that won't be shared with other hardware like LPT port.Good luck.

Im having a similar problem only it's with a c-media onboard sound device. The OS is running Win. XP Pro. Only this one was recently upgraded from 98. Everything seemed to detect ok, but one single piece in the Device Manager which had the yellow exclamation mark. It just so happened to be next to C-Media AC97 Audio Device. I made sure that the onboard sound was turned on in the BIOS. I have dumped it numerous times and reloaded it. I have even dumped it. Turned the computer completely off. Installed it when it came back up and then shut the computer off again once it was reloaded in case the registry still had some of the 98 SE residue to it. I have even tried downloading different drivers for it to see if that would help off of driverguide.com. Still nothing is helping. It is very puzzling why it would detect it and I do have the drivers for that motherboard which has the sound drivers on the CD and detects it just fine and appears to install it just fine. When I went into the Properties of this and clicked on the Resources Tab it said "This device isn't using any resources because it has a problem." Any suggestions would be great.

Adam
