Hope someone can help - I keep getting a pop-up stating that it's a critical message and states that I need to install an anti-virus program. When I answer "OK" it takes me to a full-screen pop-up to purchase anti-virus software. It also "blinks" in my taskbar. How do I get rid of this? I have run Spybot and AdAware, but to no avail. Thanks in advance.

It would be helpful if you could give a better description, but likely you have been hijacked or infected with a Trojan similar to Smitfraud

Removal will depend on just what pest is involved.

Might try the online scan at SpywareGuide

Thanks for responding. I finally got rid of it. It was Msole32, an advertising ploy. Thanks for your help.

Glad to hear it. Actually it's associated with a trojan, so it would probably be a good idea to throughly scan your system, just in case.

NEVER click ok (or even cancel) on those type popups, close using alt/F4 or the x at the top right. if you click on them, you just install spyware/malware/virii
