After trying to download Kazaa lite the system crashed. Now i can't even start it in safe mode. I have the restore discs and they run fine but it doesn't change anything. I also have the ME disc but my cdrom won't work either. Any suggestions?

Your PC has probably been infected by a virus! Same thing happened to me before.
Use your antivirus rescue disks to clean the system.
Try to boot in safe mode: Press F5 key while computer is booting. Run antivirus program in Safe Mode.
If Kaaza was intalled use MSCONFIG to disable it at start up.

I just did a full sytem scan with Norton and it found no viruses!! Now when I start it up i get to a screen with HP on it and safe mode in the corners but that is all. No task bar etc. Also I get an error message WINDOWS\system\vmm32.vxd Missing unable to load. Any more ideas?

I think your computer has gotten a serious spyware infection. Many people get spyware from dowloading programs like Kazaa. Try downloading Spybot S&D and Adaware and run scans on your computer. It should work unless your infection is very serious. If these programs don't work and can't get rid of your problems, i have another solution but it should be one of your last options. Post back if those programs don't work.
I hope my suggestions help...

ok here goes my story of woe from yesterday. I did a complete virus scan, got nothing. Next i bit the bullet and reformatted the computer and reinstalled windows ME. Now windows does start up but I can't seem to browse the net. When i click on a link, or try to put in a search explorer kicks me off. Also the images are all messed up..almost like a negative. Please help!

Oh dear, now I have more problems. Windows keeps popping up with errors and now windows won't run either. examples of the errors are: missing files: Dlimport, GDI32.DLL, MSXML.DLL, SHDOCVW.DLL, MSHTMS.DLL, Shell32.DLL..and those are the ones that I wrote down. Is all hope lost or can I save this system?

If you are having all kind of errors you may have a problem with the memory (RAM). If you have more than one chip of RAM try one by one to see if the errors go. Next, do a surface scan on the hard drive. I think your computer problems are fixable!
Post back to let us know what happened.
