Start your PC and keep tapping the F8 key before the Windows splash screen shows. You will then get the option to start the PC in 'safe mode'. Go for this, then run Spybot etc.

It should be able to delete the bugs while Windows is in safe mode. To get out of safe mode, just re-start the PC normally.

Update Spybot and your anti-virus programs and run them once again.

If this works for you, please post back and I'll let you dig a pond in my back garden.

Thanks

Michael

try toolbarcop to remove any BHO plugins only, try in safe mode again, empty temp folder, using regedit to search and remove files listed, try msconfig to uncheck any startup files linked to unknown, run adaware scan and virus scan again , try solo anti-virus demo for different results...:)

You need to disable the system restore utility. Right click on my computer on desktop, click on properties tab, perfoormance tab ,then click on file system at right hand corner then click on trouble shooting, put a check mark in the disable system restore check box and reboot, this will purge all of your restore points ,including the one containing the virus ! After you run another virus scan and confirm your system is now clean of the virus ,go back remove the check mark from the system restore utility and reboot !
Good Luck Nick

That seem strange that it will not let you reenable your system restore utility ? Of course you have tried after a fresh bootup ? Also disable your anti-virus application and then try ,otherwise ,Iam nto sure why it wont let you reenable it ,you did not manually delete the hidden restore folder ? In not then there should be no reason it wont alow you to re-enable it. Also you can go to microsofts knowledge base and do a search on the restore utility and the problem you are having ,others most likely have had the same problem and they may well offer a fix ! I've disabled my system restore utility several times to clear out old rstore points when my PC is running at optimal performance and then re-enabled it without any prob, then opened the utility and created a restore point .Anyone else out there haver a suggestion for Tysons prob w/system restore enabling ? Let us know when and if you get this working again ,Iam very curious !
Good Luck Nick

Hey Tyson,
I thought of something after I posted above ,you did not remove the check mark from StateMgr in your startup in MSCONFIG ? That must have a check mark to load at startup in order for system restore to work ? Some people who dont want system restore, uncheck that box in MSCONFIG under the start up tab ? If unchecked it will not let you enable system restore ! Hope thats your prob ,cause its a easy fix ? Simply put a check mark in box reboot and then reenable system restore and again restart your PC ,create a restore point !
Good Luck Nick
