Corrupted registry

I attempted to install the 4 in 1 drivers on my computer that runs on Windows Me. At the end of the install I received a message indicating there was a registry error. I later on rebooted my machine and since the I have lost access to my email client *Outlook 2000* - Cannot configure outlook 2000 because administrators privileges are required???? I am the administrator thus I assume the registry in question has been corrupted. Am I correct? If so, how do I fix it? The system will not give me access to my system backup as if there were none. The add/remove program is empty and the system won't shut down by itself (although it will reboot, sometimes sucessfully). I pray I don't have to format my disk and re-install and loose all my data. Can someone please help?

With all that going on,I'm not sure it'll help @ this point, but have you tried restoring the registry?Or is that what you're referring to when you say there's no backup recognized?
