Comment:

I tried to do a dual install of me and 2000.
i got rid of 2000, but the boot.ini file still
thinks that 2000 is the default. Can someone
post a correct boot.ini for windows me?

thanks
Ishy

The boot.ini file is not needed in ME. If you have removed the Winnt folder and you just want to boot into ME do this:

1)Make an ME bootdisk:
Go to start>>settings>>control panel>>add/remove programs>>Startup disk>>create disk.

2)Boot to the boot disk:
Choose without cd-rom support.
at the a:\> prompt type "sys c:" without the quotes.
You should see: System Transfered.

3)Pull out the bootdisk.
You will boot directly into ME
Delete:
boot.ini
ntdetect.com
ntldr

Windows 2000 will be gone now.

Just for your information, here is what my Boot.ini looks like:

[boot loader]
timeout=30
default=multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT
[operating systems]
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(1)partition(1)\WINNT="Microsoft Windows 2000 Professional" /fastdetect
multi(0)disk(0)rdisk(0)partition(1)\WIN2000="Microsoft Windows 2000 Server" /fastdetect
C:\="Microsoft Windows"
