Subject: Copying files to CD-RW
OS: Windows Me
CPU/Ram: Dimension 4100/128mb SDRA
Model/Manufacturer: Dell
Comment:
I cannot copy a data file to disk. Despite all the good suggestions I've received, nothing works. I constantly get error messages such as "read only", "disk full", etc. The same disk will work fine in my laptop running XP.

What program are you using to burn the files to the CD?

I've tried using DirectCD, Create CD, and whatever my Windows Explorer comes up with. I tried Nero, but couldn't get it to run (something about Roxio). Nero tech support has been of no help.

The CD drive works okay for all other tasks.
I don't know how to clean it.

You first have to format CD-RW. Most programs (inc Nero) you then transfer files using Windows Explorer or My Computer just as if it was a floppy - Copy/Paste or whatever.

... but I expect you've done all that.
