I have two small hard drives.. and would like to copy ALL from C: to D:,, copying system files, registry's .. all of it.. so I can do a low level reformat of C: then ,, copy it back...
Can I do that?? and how?? I read somewhere of changing the plugss in the tower.. How would I go about accomplishing this task??
Reason I am wanting to do this,, is I WAS having some difficulties... freezes. etc.. seem to have it pretty much cleaned up.. but would like to have the system on my D: drive, anyway.. Just in case of a C: failure...
and final ques.. IF I get is all copied to D: and IF c: fails.. how do i cold boot up using the d: ops sys..???
thanks.. mike

It depends on what you have for software and hardware.
USUALLY you can use the drive makers utility (available free from them) to copy drive to drive in it's entirity. If not you can buy and older version of Norton Ghost or Drive Copy and give that a go.
Either will copy it all sector for sector including the boot record. All you would have to do is unplug one and plug in the other.
To copy them they both need to be connected at the same time (obviously) but the jumper settings may vary depending on the software. It should be a master/slave or cable select setup.

Go to this site and it is the easiest way to copy your hard drive and without spending any money. I have used this method many, many times and all successfully.
