I have got a big problem when I open my control panel in Windows ME it comes up blank. I have not icons at all, but at the bottom on screen it says 38 Objects so I know they are still there.

Anyway help on this would be grateful

This is a mabey answer but do you have a program such as tweak ui or tweek all, Xteq X-set up etc. these type of programs usually have an option to hide icons in your control panel.

If you've been using any sort of "registry cleaner" you may want to have a look at this article also:

I had the same problem once. It has something to do with how the "folder options" are set, I think. When I get on my ME computer at home I'll double check how my settings are now and how they were back when I had that problem. I'm at work now.

Go to Explore. Go into folder options and check off "use windows classic desktop" and "use windows classic folders". That worked for me.
