Connecting DVD on my laptop to a tv?

I am using windows Me and I have a 3.5mm stereo to 2 * RCA plugs. I was wondering if I could connect them and get the DVD playing through the television.do we have to change any settings to make this possible?

Audio can be sent from your pc to your stereo or TV audio inputs. The 1/8th inch jack to two rca's will do the job. You confusing me with the millimeters but im guessing its the same thing.
For video you will need A television with a vga input and a vga extension cable. Remove the monitors vga cable from you video card and connect the vga extension cable to the video card and television.
If your television does not have a vga input (most dont) you will need a video card with TV out.
The link to the video card is just to give you an idea of what im talking about. I am not suggesting this product and i have not verified its compatibility with windows me.
