I got a sound blaster live platinum and a wintv card. When i have them both in the wintv cards software fails to work and usually makes the computer hang (freeze) when i take the sound blaster live platinum out the wintv card works fine. Also when the sound blaster live platinum is in it works fine. It just does not work with the wintv card. I think it may be to do with the irqs. Most probably an IRQ conflict. You can check for what is sharing IRQs in device manager. You will have to keep switching slots the cards are in until they don't share IRQs. Also, try changing your bios setting for Plug&Play OS from Y to N or vice versa.

Check the readme files on the WinTV CD and look for troubleshooting info on the www.hauppauge.com website. I have the WinTV PVR USB version and an SBLive player and they work fine together but I seem to remember something in the FAQ. Use Windows System Configuration Tool to look at how your IRQs are allocated. Also look in System Properties>Device Manager for error messages on either device.

Another possibility could be your processor. If you are using an AMD processor, they do not mix well with Creative Labs products. While some have no problems, many do have problems with this combo, could be worth considering.

That is such a crock! I have used AMD cpus with SBLive cards with no problems. Both K6-II and Duron. The FAQ entry I was talking about was to do with WinTV and SBLive ... make sure you have the latest drivers for both
