Here's a few suggestions: 1.) Fiddle with the registry 2.) Download a bodgy game 3.) When you get an error ... re-install 3.) Muck around with msconfig to make it go faster
If none of this works format the drive, re-install (two or three times if possible).
Then do it all again!

The best way is to download as many peices of freeware and shareware you can find, install them and make sure to check the "start up with windows" box during setup. Get rid of everything in your start menu. It just clutters the desktop up.
Summary: if your windows 98 is working fine then keep it... if its not working fine then reinstall 98 in a different subdirectory... windows ME has hard time with computers and components older than 2 years......
