computer won't start

Alright guys....
i have a major problem...
it started with not letting me on the internet now the thing is my computer won't start at all...well it starts it even brings up the Windows ME screen but after that the hard drive makes keeps on making this noise and the scrren stays blank.
the funny thing is i starts up in safe mode if that helps....

can anyone help cheerz

try a system restore from safe mode.
might try running your virus scanner from safe mode as well.
and if that don,t help try this link

What did you do prior to windows not booting. There are many possiblities but I can't tell you unless you tell me what you did. From the top of my head I cant think of two things. Either you have way too many things on your hard drive. If thats is the case load to safe mode and start deleting things you dont need or use. And second something uninstall the last program that you installed or ran before the error happened. write back with more info.

to be honest i don;t know what was installed last...but what i can tell you is that the computer is pretty old...and its the same hard drive....

It sounds to me like there are bad sectors on your hard drive which are being bypassed in safe mode. Start it in safe mode and run scandisk. If it reports bad sectors, replace the hard drive.
