Just bought a barebone system and installed 256mb 168 pin High Density Sdram module ram but when i turn the computer on nothing happens only the fan is spinning. I dont have anything connected but the processor vga and the stick of ram. I checked the motherboard manual it said to install Sdram 168 pin 3.3v Unbuffered I was wondering if the computer wont start because it cant read the memory or is it something else if so how i can i get to the bottom of what it is. and yes the memory is in slot 1. i tried to start with a hard drive and without nothing happens either way.
I had the same problem....the ram wasn't installed right.I went back to the original configuration and made sure it worked....then added the other stick and it was fineI think the computer starts...just not the monitor
