I've been having a problem trying to install a pci wireless network adapter to my computer. Following the instructions, I installed the software first and then tried the hardware. When I boot the computer up again, it doesn't recognize the new harware. I tried all my PCI slots an none of them work. I called Belkin, the manufacturer of the card, and got the run-around. First, they told me that my computer probably isn't compatible with this card, saying that it was made for "PCI 2.0 slots" (I thought 32 bit was 32 bit). Nothing on the package sent me any red flags that it might not work.I even tried going through the add new hardware on the control panel. Still nothing. My other options are to try it on another computer, which will be rather difficult being that I only have one or update my BIOS, which I hear is dangerous. Anybody have any ideas that could probably help me out? Thanks.

It's quite possible that the card is bad out of the box. Try it in a friends system or just take it back to the store and tell them it's bad and you want an exchange.
