Computer will not shut down!

When shut down it does the usual but just before it switches off it pauses, then restarts back into windows again! Cannot shut it down without holding the power switch on the front of the pc. What would cause this?

Click on Start, then Run, then type REGEDIT. Once the Registry Editor pops up, select the Edit menu, select Find, then type FastReboot. This will bring you to the registry entry for HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\System\CurrentControlSet\ControlShutdown.
Once the Registry Editor finds this, change the FastReboot value data from 1 to 0 by right-clicking on FastReboot, selecting Modify and then changing the 1 to a 0.
