I am having a problem with my computer turning itself off after it has been on for a few hours. It also takes a few tries to turn the computer on. I checked the power managment settings to make sure that it was set to never shut off. What could be the problem?
Over heating processor (fan bad or not on correctly), over heating system board, card or disk drive? Power supply going bad. Or system board, or even a disk drive can cause it.
I would go for overheating processor. Take the comp case cover off and see if that makes any difference. If there is any dust accumulated on the CPU fan it will need cleaning. Blow it off with air from an air canister.
Post back with results or if the problem persists.

If it takes a couple of hours before it shuts down, I doubt if it's the processor overheating thats causing it. Although if you've never cleaned your case then i'm sure thats running hot anyway. It sounds like a power supply problem to me. First clean all the dust out of your case, especially the power supply. If it still shuts down after that, then disconnect all your peripherals except ofcourse the Monitor, Mouse, and Keyboard, because they still will draw some power even when their off, and see if it still does it , or if it goes for a longer period before it shuts down. If the situation improves after that then it's the power supply.
