My computer (right out of the blue) keeps shutting down by itself. I reformatted thinking I had a virus and it still does it. Could the virus have infected my boot up disk (made on computer before reformatting) therefore putting the virus right back on computer? thanx

Are these shut downs random, or say every ten minutes? What brand, model number?

I've had several 'leaky' power switches (ATX). If your happy to work on a live PC, try taking the cover off, locating the power switch connector on the motherboard, switch the PC on and then pull off the connector. You should now have trouble-free operation. You may be able to swap the reset and power switch connectors over. THIS ONLY APPLIES TO ATX PSU'S!!!!
