Lately, whenever i start up my computer, it keeps restarting and restarting over and over again...It will eventually go to the screeen where you can choose which mode you want to start up in, such as Normal, Safemode, etc., so i choose one of them to try and start up and it does the same thing over and over...Eventually i just shut it off and sometimes it will boot up and run fine. But even when it does boot up, i continuessly get a little message, stating that Windows has caused an error, and which ever web page im on will close up, also the mouse keeps freezing up when im playing games in msn. Could this possibly be a virus? This has never happened before! Please help!!! Thank you! :-)

More than likely, you extracted a file "User.exe" from SFC (if you're using win98), or the user.exe file became corrupt.
The only way that worked for me, was to reformat my computer. You should be able to use a windows startup disk or the windows cd itself to boot up on to begin the format.

I don't think this has anything to do with formating. First look in the control panel device manager and see if there are problems with anything. Then check each selection to see if there are any extra devices loaded. You may find extra disk drives, cdrom, keyboard or mouse that are not needed. Delete everything that is duplicated and reboot. The correct device will load up.
A device driver may be corrupted or needs to be upgraded?
Finally, part of your RAM may have become damaged or the memory stick become loose in the socket. In MSCONFIG -> advanced you can limit you memory size. This is a hit or miss situation until the freeze or crashing stops. A good memory checker could pin point the problem if in the memory.

I got to the bottom of my problem i think, thanx for the advise, but i seem to of gotten a virus! The name is W32Nimda.EXE@mm, i found it with Norton Anti Virus, but it will not quarantine, repair, or delete the virus...any ideas?
