I have a laptop, my battery has been dead for quite a while and I always have to use the power cord. Lately my computer its been getting really hot, everywhere gets hot, I can't even rest my hands on it because its too hot. The computer keeps running at all times, it will stay on as long as I don't turn it off. It doesn't get to the point that it will shut off automatically. Why is it getting too hot? Any suggestions? Thanks

That hot? it will keep your coffee warm, well the pc will not turn itself off unless you are using a software for tweaking windows and set the time to shut off or you can go to control panel and enable the standby funtion to a specific time[after being inactive for 10 , 15 or 20 minutes or whatever time interval you choose] on standby mode the pc is using minimal power/energy and it cools down, you can do the same with the monitor but you have a laptop don't know if it is the same[it should]by the way did you know that heat is the worse enemy of computers, lucky you haven't had a meltdown, also if it's getting too hot without you using it, it might have a program that you are not aware of running on the background, check your processor and memory activity. rc

Summary: Seems like a RAM problem to me, but you've got 300+ so it couldn't be that. Some motherboards have a heat sensor for the processor. If it gets too hot it shuts itself off. Take off the cover and make...
