I could not get IE 6 (have IE 5.5) to load from the IE download page. I found an old post on downloading the IE 6 to ME. It suggested downloading the complete file as a solution to the download problem. So I tried it and the download went great. So now I have the files. Now how do I get the setup done as I cannot find a extraction file or application that will run?

Well, thanks to www.compu-docs.com, got the files to load... well almost. Having the same problems as when I tried to load from the web site. When the setup file starts load IE 6, it goes to about 4%, then jumps to 91% then finishes by telling me it did not install all of the components and to please try again.....
Any guesses?

Got any ISP CDs (AOL, Earthlink, Netzero, etc) laying around? Pop one in & cancel the installation. Then explore the CD, find IE6setup.exe & install from there.

Thanks orbital, that link lead me to finding out it was a problem with the Program Files/Internet Explorer/uninstall information files. Once I cleared that file, IE 6 loaded fine. Thanks again

You can get a full version of IE6 at the following site:
www.softwarepatch.com/tips/howtooe.html
NOTE: run the download to open. If you want to save it as a folder for the next time - just download it again to the desktop.
Also - while it is loading, if it should say something to the effect. . .
"The files being downloaded are older than those already installed on your computer. Do you want to keep the newer versions or install the older versions with this download?"
Always chose to download what the download files offer. It would very well be the "newer" versions you have are in fact the problem.
Windows ME has a big problem with "Updates" and version transitions.
