I need to do a coplete format of my C Drive. I was told I need to "turn off" my Master Boot Drive. Could anyone tell me how to do both; format and turn off.

You need to insert your bootdisk in floppy drive and re-boot the pc with CD support. When you get up, do FDISK to make sure you have the proper partitions. If you do, then FORMAT C: and answer all the questions. When that is finished, install your OS.

I've formated a few drives and never heard that statement before. If I may ask why do you need to format??you do probably know that this operation will wipe your drive clean of the O.S. and all programs, drivers saved files ETC.To format insert a WinMe Emergency Boot Disk in the floppy and re-start or power on.when asked choose WITH CD/ROM SUPPORT,,when you get to the A:\ prompt type in Format C:\ and answer the prompts.
