How can i reset my compaq presario 5000 to its original factory condition without a cd, without the internet, or without goint to compaq knowlegde center and quickrestore. please, i really need help, thanks.
To reset your computer to factory, you have to have the (2) disks from Compac, or use your quick restore, it is on your d drive, to get proper instructions you should go to compac forum.........or buy a retail upgrade copy and install it fresh

my 5000 did not come with restore disks.there is a file on the d drive that creates a restore floppy. On mine it's called D:\cpqs\fqr.exe. It creates a boot floppy that calls up the restore files from the d: drive. hth bob

Bob is correct on this. I have used that file more than a few times to restore Compaq's. That seems to be all I work on anymore. Once you create the boot disk, restart the computer with the boot disk in the drive and it will restore a backed up copy of windows from the files stored on the D drive that Compaq uses.
