I was messing around with RedHat 7 before I reilized that there are better Linux operating systems out there so I went to "Restore my PC to factory condition." Usually everything works fine, I insert a blue disk labled "Compaq: Recovery CD", I reboot the computer, the recovery menu comes up, i punch in the number '4' (Factory Restore) and in 5 minutes I am back looking at all of AOL's internet shortcut junk on my fresh new desktop.
But now, I instert the "Recovery CD" and it starts to boot up like it should but it just stops suddenly displaying nothing more than "A:/>", I can change to my CD drive by typing n:, and I can switch to my CD-RW drive by typing o: (Drives N/O) but no command works. Why won't it just run as usual? I even restored the partitions/boot logs and it still won't work!
I have a Compaq Presario: Model #4505, along with the "Recovery CD", I have an old "Quick Restore CD" that restores my computer to Windows 95, even though it never came with my computer...I also have a "Windows ME Start-Disk", and a "Norton Anti-Virus Boot-log/Partition disk" that I use to restore my partitions.
Has anyone expierenced this problem before? Is there a secret command that I need to type after the A:/> or N:/> or O:/>...
