compacting outlook express

Should one compact 'all files' in outlook express or just in certain circumstances?

There doesn't seem to be an option to reverse the compact if needed tho'.

tykko, the purpose of compacting is space conservation. Only you can decide whether or not that's needed. As a routine matter, don't think I'd compact. Only where needed.

I compact mine from time to time and have never run into problems. Having said that I've never noticed any change in free HD afterwards either.

I have heard that it is best to compact manually rather than let it do so in the background automatically. It apparently uses rather a lot of resources.
