clusters and scan disk on startup

Beginning pc user scan disk stops when it scans clusters why? Scan disk appears on starup of windows please help.

Scan disk runs on boot up usually when the system was shut down incorrectly.

If ScanDisk stalls out or seems to quit when running, usually you have disk write activity causing it. You have to close out all non-essential programs. Alternatively, you can try and run ScanDisk and Defrag by entering "Safe Mode," at boot up. Iget into safe mode by pressing the F8 key during startup.
