OS: WinMe
CPU/Ram: 680MHz, 650Mb
Product: Generic
Comment:

There is a repeated entry in WinMe's MSConfig, StartUp tab. Clicking on the CleanUp button does NOT remove it. Is there a way of editing this out ?

Download & install CCleaner, click Tools, Startup...you should be able to figure out the rest.

BTW, what is the entry?

Active Desktop Calender. One is ticked and the other is not.

If you don't use it, remove it from Add/Remove programs

I use Active Desktop Calendar, but it has occurred to me that the surplus entry may be due to an earlier version that was upgraded. I could delete both and re-install the later one, I suppose.

You need to read and apply Trevs How to Make WindowsMe Run Well version 5. I had a P3 750MHz for several years with WindowsMe installed and it always ran well after appying trevs tweaks . The part about using the System Configuration Utility ( Start/Run/MSCONFIG) and removing items that load at startup that are not nessasary really help your PC run better . Here is a link to Trevs Tweaks >http://www.burzurq.com/forum/trevtweak.html
Good Luck ,Nick

I have done the uninstall, clearing Registry and re-installing, and that did get rid of the extra unticked & unwanted item.
I am a committed/loyal user of WinMe, but it DOES 'hang-up' more than I would like it to. I'll see if Trev's Tweaks suggests something I don't already know about.
By the way, I have and use WinXP when the task at hand is beyond WinMe's capability.
