I have a problem with Microsoft Outlook 2000. In Outlook Express I could arrange the program to automatically check my mail on my MSN Hotmail account, but when I recently installed Office 2K and tried to configure Outlook 2K to to do the same thing, it didn't seem to offer any support for it. Even when I imported my settings from Outlook express It didn't carry over. How do I configure Outlook 2K to do this operation? Thank You Qui

You can't do it in Outlook, according to MS.

In Outlook, Folder List, right click on Personal Folders and choose New Folder. Call this Folder Hotmail. Right click on your new Hotmail Folder and select Properties, switch to the Home Page tab and type http://www.hotmail.com into the address box. Switch on the button marked "Show home page by default for this folder". Now when you click the Hotmail folder you'll be taken directly to the Hotmail web site so you can sign in and read your mail. This is not ideal, but it's the best you're going to get, until MS come up with a patch.

I heard if you had outlook express you could export your hotmail account from express then import it into 2000. I haven't tried it myself though.

That import/export theory won't work on my outlook 2000. It says that it doesn't support http mail servers so it won't recognise the imported information. Why on EARTH Microsoft not support http mail?!

You need to have Office Service Release 1 or 1a applied to your Office2k, and also you need to set up your outlook for Internet Mail Only mode. Read the article in Response 4. It explains step by step what to do.
