Had to format my HD due to software problem. Reloaded windows to find that date was April 03 and time was wrong. Tried to change but could not. Waited a couple of days tried again and nothing. Checked System Restore and only had April 03, could not move to any other month. Tried setting manual restore did not work. Uninstalled and reloaded windows, still have same problem. Anybody out there can help ?

Well your restore wouldn't work because you need to download the MS patch to make it work on a new install. Something people normally do when they grab all there updates first time round from the update site.

What exactly is happening with the time ? Is it actaully slowing down, ie, losing time ? Or is it stopped dead ?

Could be the CMOS battery failing.

Hi
Thanks for info. As far as I am aware I did grab all updates. Clock is set about 7hrs ahead of UK time. I did select Greenwhich Mean Time for UK hen installing ME. Clock is not losing time, system is a year old and have chcked in CMOS for battery function. Should I grab updates again?

Naarr ...not much point, you could check again for the restore patch but you've more than likely got it -- it won't make any difference to your date/time issue anyway, you just need it to make restore work when you first start using ME. Have to think on that one.

Viking, FWIW, I'm in the US. A proggie I use from time to time is one called "Stay Alive 2000". It coordinates with the Naval Observatory atomic clock and sets the time & date automatically. Perhaps it would be useful? Get it free at:
