Subject: Changing hard drivesOS: Windows MeCPU/Ram: Athlon1000/512RAM |
Comment: I have a backup Gateway computer (Athlon 1000 with 512RAM) with a lot of music files on it. I have a 40 gig Western Digital hard drive (master) and a 160 gig Western Digital hard drive (slave) for storage. The 160 gig hard drive is filling up fast. What I want to do is: disconnect the 160 gig HD (slave) and add a new 80 gig hard drive. Then copy everything including Windows Me from the 40 gig HD (master) onto the new 80 gig HD. Then make the new 80 gig HD drive the master and get rid of the 40 gig HD. Then I'll reconnect the 160 gig HD (slave) for storage. Confusing? Is it that simple or am I forgetting something? I'm also using the Ultra ATA card. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks.

Reply: (edit)It's almost that simple. Instead of copying 40 to 80, you need to "image". Use PQDI or Ghost. M2 If at first you don't succeed, you're about average.
