Subject: Changing Display stuck at 16 colorOS: Windows MeCPU/Ram: 160 mb |
Comment: Hi! i am using Windows Me. my display driver is sis 6326 AGP True colour, and i am using an Acer monitor. Due to some reason, the display properties of my system seem to have been stuck at 16 color 640x480 pixel, although earlier i was comfortably using 24 bit True color, 600x800 pixel display. i am unable to switch over to any other display properties, dispite continuosly restarting my PC, (not even to 256 color or 16 bit high color. i am also unable to restore my pc to any earlier date using "system restore". I have also tried to reinstall the operating system, i.e. Windows Me, but the problem persists. Any suggestions, or softwares availble that can solve my problem? Thank you, Rohan rohan_chauhan@indiatimes.com

Reply: (edit)It may be a corrupted driver. To reinstall the drivers, first find them on CD or download the latest (Win Me) version for your video card from the manufacturer's website. Install through Device manager, right click My Computer|Properties|Device Manager, expand the + beside Display Adapters click on the driver listed, go to properties, find the driver tab, click update driver, select specify the location of the driver, click on display a list of drivers in a specific location, click next, click have disk, and point Windows to the new drivers for your card and let it update. Reboot. Good luck. Bill.
