Comment:

Dual boot dual drive set up running ME on one and XP Pro on the other.
I changed the partition that XP resided on and I edited the boot.ini file to point to the new partition but it hangs at the welcome screen.I suspect I need to edit another file(s) but i'm not sure what one.
Any ideas on this??

You need to fully reinstall XP on the new partition. There are some boot files that have to be in exactly the right place on the partition, and in the MBR.

Your boot.ini is most likely fine... and pointing to the correct partition... but your XP registry is not. It is all pointing to the old partition letter. When you change the boot.ini, the registry does not get changed.

As Al said, reinstall XP.

Or... you can have a look at this MSKB article for more ideas:

Unable to Log on if the Boot Partition Drive Letter Has Changed (Q249321)

... but even if you get in none of your programs that install themselves to the registry will work either... for the same reason.
