whenever i want to send an email to a certain link on the net it always opens up my outlook express. I dont use this and have to copy n paste the link to my hotmail account.Can i set it up so it goes the persons email goes straight to my hotmail like it does with outlook express? Thanks

go to My Computer/Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs/ EMail : Change the setting from Outlook Express to Hotmail Alternatively you can have the hotmail account in Outlook Express. This helps to read/compose off line and have unlimited folders capacity to save email on your local drive. To configure Outlook Express for you Hotmail account go to Tools/Accounts/Mail/Add/Mail : Enter all your account info like Name,Email id, password etc, In Mail server names select HTTP, Hotmail. Finish and you will be asked to ok download of the Hotmail folder content to Outlook Express. This account is a mirror of the Hotmail Account. You can have several accounts and operate them simultaneously in Outlook Express. If you have MSN Explorer then the same is possible without Outlook Express. You can download MSN Explorer from the MSN home page.

You can set up your hotmail account in Outlook Express, then choose that account to send from when Outlook Express opens as the default. Unfortunately, Hotmail is not one of the choices for a default mail program.

Jennifer, You can change the default setting even if you dont want to use OE. As I have explained above go to My Computer/Control Panel/Internet Options/Programs/ EMail : Change the setting from Outlook Express to Hotmail. I have got Netscape also as an option to be set as default. This will open the email compose in I.E windows just as you would if you log into Hotmail on the web.

cheers for the help but i think ive done something wrong. I have mail in my hotmail account (on my msn) but on that outlook express which i changed to hotmail says my inbox is empty? will i have to delete msn account first ? Thanks again

hello no dont delete your msn acount. but msn must be set as default in out look to work you can have more than one email acount open in out look works for me some times usealy got scoket errors. if you set up ol right you should get your new email from msn try clicking send recive at top of ol. have a nice day OT Forum

No you dont have to delete MSN account. Outlook Express only mirrors the account and synchornises both to be the same. Press Ctrl+M or Send/Recieve and the messages will be downloaded. Seems like you are new to Outlook Express: look around in all the tabs on the bar at top and familiarise yourself. There are many features here you may find useful.
