change default font in application

I am using Windows ME Chinese Version but I installed an English Language Application. There are many strange symbol in content. I think the reason is the application uses the windows default font(Chinese font). Of course I can go to Control Panel->Display setting to change the font type. But it would affect all applications. Is it possible to change the default font for the specific application?
Summary: I would like to change the default font in explorer. Under Display/apper. the 'Window Text" doesn't allow a font or sizs change. There must be a way to change explorer.exe fonts. Help please....
