Hey, I havea dell dimension w/cd-rw. system's about 1/5 years old. burned a data cd yesterday, went to eject it, and it wouldn't come out. computer still reads the cd fine, but the bay just won't open.
Here's what I've done so far:
1. tried ejecting with the button
2. tried ejecting with the computer command "eject"
3. used the paper clip trick
4. opened the box and tried to see from the inside.
5. too a knife and tried to gently pry it open... (ok, i was desparate)
Anyway, nothing seems to work...
Any thoughts would be appreciated! God bless!

try keeping your finger on the eject button. when you start the computer up does the cd-rw read the disc, also try bios settings.
Also is it a basic cd or a branded one. Unplug the cd writer from the back plug it bak in are my suggestions at the mo. not too sure, does the light come on. check if it is installed correctly in device manager, did you install a program after which might have corrupted it - remove it.

hello
i take it your useing adaptec.
and if you open up the wizzerd for formatting a data cd from them and let it read the cd and it will say allready being used it will ether eject it or give you the option for doing this.or try some of the other adaptec options.ive not used adaptec for data in 6 months.or i could give you a better explination.i use nero now.
if its adaptec and you had this problem its the only way you can ever get it to open with that cd or any other it decides to screw.you might allso try opening my computer, right click on cd-r icon chose eject.
have a nice day
