hello,i fitted a cd-rw the other day, installed the software to go with it,Roxio, which isn't even the full version just a basic one, which i think is crap!
So i tried installed Nero5 which my sister got with her cd-rw,but that doesn't recognise my cd-rw,it just comes up as an Image recorder which sets me up to the burning section were i started to burn a cd,when it had done it wouldn't play in any cd player, everything works on the Roxio software but i have to convert all my mp3's to wav to copy them,as the mp3 option isn't available in the basic version.
And to confuse things more my brother said that he uses Windows Media Player to do all his burning, but WMP doesn't recognise my cd-rw,should it see it as a portable device?
Can anyone recommend any freeware software i could use as it would cost $90 to upgrade to the full Roxio, also i have installed the cd-rw properly haven't i,it does work with Roxio so i must have, have i asked too much of you all ,again. Thanks anyway.

hello
all thats wroung with nero is your not setting it up right ive burned over 600 cd,s with nero both music and data.
i found adaptec to be lesser then desired as burning soft ware goes
have a nice day

There is nothing wrong with Nero. When you receive Nero with a CD burner, it is not the full version. It is a striped down version with drivers specific for that burner. You can't use it with another model burner.
Image recorder is exactly that, it burns an image to the hard drive. It is not burning data to your CD.
If you want to try Nero, you must go to there website and download the demo.

i use & like NTI CD Maker 2000.
on ebay, Win XP site, NTI CD Maker goes for about $10.
