CD-RW drive not working

hi. my cd rw drive isnt detecing cds. i tried getting new updates of firmware but it doesn't work. it is a Ricoh CD-RW MP6200A Someone please help!

Hi,
Try to go DOS mode and then put any CD in your drive go to the drive for example if your CD-rom is D drive type, D:dir (enter) see if anything happens, if not it could be hardware, you could also try to remove the cd-rom drive from your device manager in system and then reboot your computer and install the drive again, DO NOT UPDATE THE DRIVE, it does almost nothing.
